This work day is a unique joint effort through Guilford’s annual Day of Service! We can begin at 9am with students arriving at 9:45am and staying until 12:15pm. This is a chance to meet with college-aged students who may be interested in gardening and molding their eager minds! Tasks for the day include:
- Reconstructing herb spiral
- Planting perennial herbs back in spiral (based on availability, donations welcome)
- Deconstructing annual vegetable beds (harvest veggies and store in Share the Harvest fridge), spreading remaining soil, mulching, and relocating raised bed wood to parking lot beds
- Weeding and mulching around parking lot beds (may have additional cardboard for basic sheet-mulching)
- General site cleanup
Plant donations for the herb spiral and tree guilds would be amazing! Perennial herbs (rosemary, thyme, oregano, chives, lavender… ) and functional guild plants (bulbs, comfrey, borage, yarrow…) would be most appreciated.
There is a massive pile of mulch on the backside of the building and I will have trash bags for you all.
Please bring a shovel and others if you have them. There are two wheelbarrows on site. Robb, Charlotte, Kate, and Teri will be the site leaders for the day!
