For the June Noir, come and see Zach Peterson’s Chestnut orchard based off of key-line design in Reidsville, NC. We visited back when the Orchard was in its infancy and now we’ll see it in it’s 4th season. The orchard was planned and designed in GIS for maximum production based off both permaculture and Agricultural engineering principles. Currently, the orchard is in full bloom, which sounds like a sight to behold. We’ll see drilled cover crops being grown in the alleyways that were strategically formulated to bring 100 lbs. of Nitrogen per acre and Zach will fill us in on his predictions for success. The mulberries are ripe, so bring baskets and bags as Zach says we may pick as much as we like! He’ll also show us his plans for growing understory crops in old growth forest on the property. Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there and a cool evening on the farm.
