Join us  for a fun weekend of community creation as we learn about building with earthen materials: clay, sand, and straw, also known as cob construction.  There are many benefits to building with these easily accessible materials and humans have been doing so for thousands of years. In this workshop we’ll learn how to build an insulated and efficient  earthen oven following Kiko Denzer’s methodology.  Aaron Grigsby and Ian Gamble have been building cob and masonry ovens for many years and also operate Deep Root’s Milling at Woodson’s Mill.  Along with Jenny, who’s played with cob informally for years, they’ll teach from experience what mistakes to avoid and the proper steps to take when building with earthen materials.

Lunch will be catered both days by Steve Terrill of Red Chair Dinners and Carbosaurous Rex prepared with locally grown produce and love!

YOU WILL GET YOUR HANDS AND FEET IN THE MUD! YIPEE!

This is a very hands on and participatory workshop, so come prepared and ready to work!

 Cost $250

(includes lunch both days)
